    Inpatient experience of hospital wards was a priority for Healthwatch Isle of Wight in 2013.

    As part of Healthwatch Isle of Wights complaints workplan, Enter and View visits to St Marys Hospital were carried out during February and March 2015.

    The theme of outpatient services became part of Healthwatch Isle of Wights workplan for 2014/15 following public engagement. Cancellation of appointments was adopted as the focus of the work, in particular the effects experienced by patients.

    Amongst Healthwatch Isle of Wights workplan topics, as chosen by the public, was complaints. In April 2015 a survey was devised to collect experiences from those who have been through the IW NHS Trust complaints procedure since January 2014.

    Healthwatch Isle of Wight carried out a survey about the experiences of people who had used cancer services over the previous two years. The survey took place in December 2015 and 220 people participated.

    The Healthwatch Isle of Wight Enter and View panel undertook revisits to the hospital wards they previously visited in 2015. The IW NHS Trust had spent alot of time working on their complaints processes following the original visits.

    Following the public consultation to determine Healthwatch Isle of Wight's workplan priorities, feedback received relating to the IW NHS Trust Accident and Emergency Department was analysed, four key themes were identified and a survey was undertaken

    In 2016/17 cancer services were again identified by Healthwatch Isle of Wight as a topic for special attention. In mid-2017 people were invited to take part in a survey if they had used cancer services since January 2016.

    In October 2017 Healthwatch Isle of Wight staff and volunteers visited ten dementia-focussed community groups across the Island, including all the Alzheimer cafes. People were informed of discussion sessions to be held and were invited to take part.

    look at experiences of people who spend time as inpatients on local mental health wards
    either voluntarily or under sections of the Mental Health Act.
